What does the introductory session cover?

The session

Explore your goals. Decide whether coaching fits.

1

Understand your situation

Untangle the decision, dynamic or career move that brought you here.

2

Explore what support you need

Discuss what you want to change, the support you are looking for and whether this coaching approach suits you.

3

Agree a useful next step

Leave with one concrete action and a clearer way to approach it.

After the introductory session, we email a brief summary of your agreed next step within two business days. This is a short action note, not a full assessment or ongoing coaching support.

How does coaching work?

How one-to-one coaching works

A conversation with purpose—and a next step you own.

01 · FOCUS

Choose what matters today

Start with the situation you want to work on and what you would like to be clearer about by the end of the session.

02 · EXPLORE

Examine what is happening

Look at the facts, assumptions, workplace dynamics and options. We bring practical leadership experience and questions that help you think.

03 · PRACTISE

Prepare for real work

Where useful, rehearse a conversation, work through a decision or plan how to delegate. Choose an approach that fits your circumstances.

04 · ACT

Commit to a useful next step

Agree what you will do and how you will recognise progress. If you continue coaching, review what happened and what you learned at your next session.

How do we review progress?

Progress you can recognise

Measure the change in your work.

We agree measures that relate to your goals. They might include having a conversation you have avoided, making decision rights clearer, delegating meaningful work or taking a defined step towards your next role.

Confidence can be part of the picture. We also look at the actions taken, the feedback received and the difference you observe. Outcomes depend on your situation and application; a promotion or particular workplace response is not guaranteed.

Questions about fit, confidentiality and ongoing support

Questions before you book

Choose the support that fits.

Which session should I choose?

Choose the 50-minute intro if you want to explore whether coaching with Head Forward is right for you. Choose The Next Move if you want a full 60-minute session focused on a particular leadership or career challenge.

Do I need to hold a leadership title?

No. Coaching is available to people preparing for leadership, newly appointed leaders and experienced leaders. Women’s progression is a particular focus, and women and men are welcome.

What should I prepare?

Bring one situation, decision or goal and a sense of what you want to change. You do not need a polished presentation. Avoid sending sensitive information about other people when booking.

Will my employer see what we discuss?

For organisation-funded coaching, confidentiality and reporting boundaries are agreed before sessions begin. Progress reporting is agreed with you and the sponsor; it is not automatic sharing of session notes. Privacy and any applicable limits are explained in the engagement terms.

Can we work together beyond one session?

Yes. Ongoing coaching and mentoring can be discussed if appropriate. Frequency, goals, price and any between-session support are agreed separately. A single booking does not include unlimited support.

What if I need a different kind of help?

Coaching focuses on leadership development, decisions and action. It does not replace mental-health care, legal advice or a formal workplace investigation. If another service better fits your needs, that can be discussed.

Not sure where to start?

Is Head Forward right for you?

Tell us what you are working through and the support you are looking for. We can discuss which service fits—or whether a different kind of support would be more useful.
